We are in luck!! Doc Tyler & the Hoosier String Ticklers, with Will Mentor calling, are on tour in the Midwest, and will be playing at our contra dance, Friday, March 16.
Will Mentor is a contra and square dance caller from Northern Vermont known for his clear teaching, upbeat wit, and relaxed stage presence. He loves to choreograph evenings with a variety of dances and tempos that at times surprise and always delight, all the while keeping intact his guiding principle as a caller: “It’s about the dancers!”
The all-star band from three states and a combined 90 or so years of experience includes fiddler Paul Tyler of the famed Volo Bogtrotters, St Louis’s Jim Nelson (of the Ill-Mo Boys and others) on guitar, Robert Freeman of Wabash Valley Cannonballs fame on banjo, and the Rhythm Method’s Dedo Norris on string bass.
