We have some special treats awaiting us at our next MMTD dance, which will be held this Friday, Oct 18th at the Ballroom Academy of Columbia! Wonderful musicians Pete Howard (on fiddle) from Fayetteville Arkansas and Barbara Weathers (on guitar) from St. Louis will join our own master banjoist Jim Ruth to make up the band The James River Scraphounds to play for us. And fine caller Terry Rouse will come from Kansas City to guide us in our dancing (no, I don’t think he’ll be riding his special bike all the way)! Driving music and great calling! Hope you can join us!
THIS FRIDAY’S DANCE LOCATION
Don’t forget! We have moved. Dances are now held at The Ballroom Academy of Columbia (BAC). This wonderful facility has a spacious, floating wood floor and comfortable seating. The BAC is located at 3910 Peachtree Drive in the same plaza as the French Laundry (behind Arby’s) and faces Monterey Drive.
The dance is from 7:30–10:30 pm (beginners’ lesson at 7:00). Admission $8.00 ($5.00 for ages 16–25 or with student ID; free for children 15 and under). Season passes are available.
- Please wear soft-soled or leather soled shoes to preserve the floor–no spike heels or cowboy boots. Please carry-in appropriate dance shoes as needed.
- The BAC has an endless water dispenser with paper cups, but we encourage you to bring a water bottle.
Carpooling: If you need a ride or are willing to drive to the Ballroom Academy from downtown, contact Rhett.
