Double Dance Weekend – April 3 and 4

TWO DANCES  THIS WEEKEND!  Note the different locations.

Friday, April 3 – Contra Dance – at Ballroom Academy of Columbia

Snorty Horse is playing for us at the Friday night contra.   Snorty Horse band members include our dear famous local musicians Cathy Barton and Dave Para, along with their friends, fine musicians Michael Fraser and Tenley Hansen, who are coming all the way from Springfield MO to play here.  Calling will be by our veteran master caller and teacher Jim Thaxter.  Jim and Snorty Horse: now there’s a team that can’t be beat!

Saturday, April 4 – English Country Dance – Rock Quarry House, City of Columbia Rock Quarry Park

The wonderful quartet 32 Bartenders will provide elegant music for us and veteran caller Jim Thaxter will do his usual magic. The 32 Bartenders are Tom Verdot on fiddle, Thom Howard on guitar, Rebecca Logan on flute and pennywhistle, and Marcie McGuire on keyboard.

Both dances are from 7:30–10:30 pm (beginners’ lesson at 7:00). No partner is necessary! Most of us switch partners with every dance and experienced dancers are more than happy to dance with new-comers to help them get the hang of it.  Admission $8.00 ($5.00 for ages 16–25 or with student ID; free for children 15 and under).
