We are very excited to announce that Vermont-based Skippin’ Cats with musicians Mary Lea (fiddle), Mary Cay Brass (Accordion & Piano) and Sam Bartlett (Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo) will be playing for Spring Breakdown 2017! Skippin’ Cats is an all-star trio with over 100 years of combined experience. Susan Kevra, who is noted for her warmth, clear teaching and lovely voice will be our caller. We will be back in the fabulous Kimball Ballroom in Lela Raney Wood Hall (6 N. College Avenue) on Stephens College campus, near downtown Columbia, Missouri. And to make sure everyone sounds their very best, we are lucky to have Sam Griffin on sound.
The weekend includes a free concert on Thursday, dances on Friday & Saturday evenings; dance workshops during the day on Saturday; after-dance socials; and more dancing and a brunch on Sunday.

Want to help out? It takes many people working many hours to put together a great dance weekend like Spring Breakdown! Contact Odell Newkirk, Spring Breakdown Chair. We need folks to help at the registration table, after-dance receptions, and the Sunday brunch.
The Ballroom. We are once again privileged to dance in the fabulous Kimball Ballroom, thanks in large part to financial assistance provided by the City of Columbia Office of Cultural Affairs and the Missouri Arts Council. Without this assistance and the hard work of MMTD board members who spent untold hours preparing funding applications and writing reports, we would not be able to afford this gorgeous venue.
This Map of “The District” shows downtown Columbia and lists local attractions and businesses within easy walking distance of Spring Breakdown.
If you have questions, or need more information about the weekend, please contact Odell Newkirk, Spring Breakdown Chair.
