Contra Dance at Cooper’s Landing Tuesday, May 14th, at 11505 S Smith Hatchery Rd, Columbia, MO 65203 7:00 – 9:00pm Join us as down by the river as MMTD resumes its monthly Cooper’s Landing dances on the second Tuesday of every month through the summer. 7-9pm. This month, 32 Bartenders will be providing the tunes and the masterful Jim Thaxter will be calling the dances.  Come for the dancing, stay for spectacular sunsets! The dancing and music is free. The view is priceless. Tips gladly accepted. Beverages are available for purchase from Cooper’s and there will likely be a food truck until 8pm.

First Saturday, May 4th, at the Columbia Independent School 1801 N Stadium Blvd, Columbia, MO 65202 Doors at 7, Dance at 7:30 pm Join us for the first Saturday dance of May at the Columbia Independent School. Fast Ethel with new member, Peter Price, on bass, will be providing the tunes and Paula McFarling will be calling the dances. Come at 7pm for a contra dance lesson or refresher and be ready to join in when dancing officially starts at 7:30. Full admission price: $10 Listener and student price: $5 16 and under: Free An after party will likely be held at a local home. Directions and details at the dance. Past Event: Calling Party, April 26th at Claire’s House

Calling all Mid-Missouri contra dance enthusiasts! Next calling party is April 26th Claire’s and Dan’s house in Columbia from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Contact Claire at: cbaffaut(at)gmail(dot)com for address or directions. This will be very similar to what we were doing before: callers and dancers get together for a couple hours a month to practice calling. A caller teaches and calls a dance to music. Dancers and other callers give gentle feedback and suggestions that would make the teaching or calling easier for them, all in a friendly environment. Everyone is invited to bring a favorite beverage and snack to share, or come without anything. The important thing is to have enough callers to call dances and dancers to dance (6 minimum, 8 to 10 preferred) and give feedback to make this useful, friendly, and fun. It is entirely free. No dancing experience is needed. All are invited.

MMTD Contra Dance with the Campeau Creek Boys. John Petter Calling. Friday, April 19th. Doors at 7, dance from 7:30 to 10:00 pm Location: The Ashland American Legion Post 152, at 123 E. Broadway, right on the main drag in downtown Ashland, MO.  Join us for the third Friday dance of April at the Ashland American Legion Post! The Campeau Creek Boys will be providing the toe tapping tunes and John Petter will be providing the dance stomping calling. After the dance, feel free to join us for a social gathering at the hall. Bring a snack to share and your favorite beverage. The hall has a kitchen for prep and storage. Come at 7pm for a contra dance lesson or refresher and be ready to join in when dancing officially starts at 7:30.
